What do you think has changed about the show between season one and season two?I think that the show has really found its voice and center this season, and everything is flowing a lot more seamlessly between medical cases and the character relationships. In every case, there's an issue of ethics to debate. And then of course, the personal dynamics playing out as well. It's action-packed and there's more surgery so you get to see Addison back in that position of strength, while you still have this dichotomy of her personal vulnerability and fallibility. I liken it to a good bottle of wine that's opened up and breathed and it's ready to be tasted.

Are there any similarities between working on this show and Grey's, and are there differences?
As soon as I'm in the scrubs I feel kind of like old Addison. It's a familiar archetype for me and I really love playing that, so I'm happy that there's more surgery for me to do this season. And then it's totally different in the practice and the dynamics, and we're all sort of adults who sometimes behave like adults and sometimes behave like kids. But I think in Grey's I was definitely more the adult as the attending and the interns were a little more the kids, at least professionally. It's interesting — it's totally different in the sense that the hospital is much more the kind of archetypal structure where the doctors sort of ping-pong around like little pinballs but they're confined by the walls of the hospital, where this is much more about progressive medicine and ethics and social issues and the city plays a character in itself. You see people at home, and you see everybody sort of coping with where they are in their adult lives that didn't turn out the way they might have thought they would.

How has Addison changed between season one and season two?
I think that she's much more grounded this year and has sort of found her sea legs, as it were, and much more in an alpha position. so the outsider thing is just not really there — she's still new, personally, to a lot of these characters, but professionally she's really on her game and definitely in a power position.

Yeah, she does seem to have a lot more power this time.
Yeah, I think that's something that we realized we kind of missed and wanted to implement again. . . . She's really strong and really super-skilled and one of the best at what she does, and we wanted to make sure that we show that both in her status within the practice but also doing more surgery and handling more cases and not being afraid to debate and piss people off.

When is Addison going to find a good man?
She's looking. You're going to see her dating. I think you'll see Addison happy and appreciated by a man, so that's been super fun to play.

Addison initially went to Oceanside to have a baby. Do you think that will come back at all, either through adoption or something else?
I think it might. It's certainly not playing out now. . . . It's all about work right now, and dating. She's let that go for the time being, that's shelved, and she's exploring all this other stuff.

From the four years of playing her, do you have a favorite Addison moment?
There's this moment when I was sitting at one of the nurse's stations in one of the episodes of Grey's and I'm watching Karev walk by and am sort of like a hungry animal. There's like this one moment where he's walking by, like, pushing a cart and then Callie busts me salaciously looking at him. There are tiny, little moments like that.

Private Practice was the #1 new series in its first season, then the strike interrupted it. Do you agree with ABC’s decision to wait until the fall to relaunch the show?
I haven’t really thought about it. I know that at the time Shonda [Rhimes, the show’s creator] wanted to focus on getting Grey’s up and running and it was such a pressure cooker of a situation. When the strike resolved itself, they were quickly trying to get as many shows as possible up and running. I think Shonda made the right decision. She had to choose one of them and get Grey’s back on the air for May sweeps. It’s definitely hard to have a show start out really well and then have almost a year go by without it being aired again but the show is all the better and stronger for it. It’s definitely a much tighter and more focused show now. I love where it’s going. I think we just have to be patient with it. There’s a lot that’s been going on with the presidential debates and being pre-empted and our economy. Hopefully viewership will go up. But viewership in television is down all over and we’re still doing great in female demographics, so we’re pretty happy.

Man why didn't Shonda choose us? OK I know I know why she didn't but still! And yes Kate we all need a little patience and hope.

Y es que la competencia entre señales como las de The Warner Channel, Sony, Universal Channel, Discovery Channel, Discovery Kids, Casa Club TV, Infinito, Telehit, Much Music y People + Arts está adquiriendo tintes tan sofisticados que, aunque yo no quiera, voy a tener que ir descartando títulos hasta más o menos pintarle este panorama que poco a poco se vuelve tan importante como el de la televisión abierta nacional.

Si hubiera que elegir entre uno de los muchísimos estrenos de esta semana, ¿cuál le recomendaría? Private practice de Sony. ¿Por qué? Porque además de que cumple con todos los requisitos formales de un buen programa de televisión, es importante a nivel industria.

¿Qué es Private practice? La primera serie derivada de Grey’s anatomy.

Son las aventuras de Addison (Kate Walsh), uno de sus personajes más fuertes, que supuestamente está iniciando una nueva vida en otra ciudad de Estados Unidos.

¿Y? ¿Qué tiene esto de espectacular? A nivel industria, que Private practice pone a Grey’s anatomy al nivel de C.S.I., Desperate housewives, Friends y Cheers.

¿Cuál es ese nivel? El nivel de serie nodriza, el de una serie tan exitosa que permite la creación de otras series y franquicias a partir de su concepto, de sus libretos y de sus personajes.

Private practice es como una sucursal de Grey’s anatomy, comparte el mismo punto de partida de un personaje protagónico femenino envuelto en dilemas médicos y sentimentales, y el mismo universo de riquísimos personajes secundarios, sólo que cambiando Seattle por Los Ángeles.

Es como si creyeran que sin el antecedente de la serie de Ellen Pompeo, el auditorio los fuera a rechazar, pero, sinceramente, Private practice es excelente y vale por sí misma.

Addison es un personaje con el que cualquier mujer del siglo XXI se puede identificar: independiente, segura, decidida, sensible, audaz y capaz de defenderse.

Lo mismo se puede divertir bailando desnuda al lado de las cajas de su mudanza que puede enfrentar a sus compañeros de trabajo para impedir que la despidan.

Ella es aspiracional, tan aspiracional como el universo que la rodea: casa preciosa al lado de la playa, trabajo en el que sólo tiene que atender a un paciente por día, cuerpo perfecto, vida sexual divina.

¿Y qué me dice de los personajes que la acompañan? Todos están tan bien construidos que se puede afirmar que tienen vida propia, belleza física y emocional, encanto. Cualquier televidente puede cerrar los ojos y soñar que está con ellos.

Pero lo mejor de Private practice son sus libretos, ya que tocan más de tres conflictos diferentes por capítulo y poseen ingredientes seductores como romance, divorcio, soledad, juegos de poder y, por supuesto, juegos de placer.

En el episodio uno, por ejemplo, se planteó el caso de dos mujeres que se disputaban el semen de un hombre que acababa de morir. Una era la ex esposa y la otra, la futura esposa.

¿Sabe cómo lo resolvieron los señores de Private practice? Dejando todo a nuestra imaginación, sin meterse en broncas morales o legales, pero, al mismo tiempo, sin dejar de ser atrevidos. ¿No es como para felicitarlos?

Luche por ver las repeticiones del capítulo uno de esta historia (con todo y su episodio de introducción con el equipo de la revista People) y no se la pierda los lunes a las 21:00 por canal Sony.

En medio del caos de estrenos que usted y yo estamos viviendo en el cable y SKY, Private practice es de lo mejor.

In general this review says that Private Practice is one of the best shows right now, that is worth watching it, not only because it has one of the most successful characters of Greys anatomy, but because it has great secundary characters and a great writting.
What bothers him a little is that they are too worried reminding people that this is a Greys anatomy spinoff, and according to him this is so good, they dont need to do that, the show by it self is worth watching.
and at the end he encourages ppl to catch the rerun of this episode on Sunday, cause is one of the best shows he has seen this season.
And i tell u guys, coming from this guy is a real compliment, cause he never likes anything. Lol

This is a bad idea. The show needs to stand on its own, how are we supposed to have more seasons if we cannot stand on our own and have to be completely dependent upon the parent show which has a crumbling cast, and is rapidly loosing viewers? They should be trying damn hard to establish us as separate from that, because I am sorry to say but GA is a load of shit right now.

Clearly ABC is using Kate's popularity to once again help GA and we get stuck with the bad end of the stick.

BTW if they want it to be a true crossover then send someone else to Seattle besides for Addison, do not make this a one sided cross over.

This is not a move to get GA viewers, it is a set up for a character transition. As is being said on TWoP Mark may be permanently moving to LA and the cross over is the way in which to do this, does this mean paddison is out? Is Tim leaving the show? Grey's has taken a huge drop this season in both their demo and total viewers. This is not a stunt for viewers, ABC are not fricken dumb asses they know that if the GA people wanted to watch PrP they would be watching it already, it is soon going to be episode 6 of season 2 after all. Most GA fans loathe PrP, least the hardcore ones anyways, and would have already given the show the chance in season 1 and at the beginning of this season. This is not a ratings stunt for PrP, if they want GA viewers for PrP then they would just show PrP after GA in the 10pm time slot. A lot easier than writing some huge multi episode crossover. There is more to it than ratings, way more.

Also, ratings are down all across the board. Ours are not that bad, and at least we are holding steady in our total viewers and in the demos and are not seeing any drastic drops, like say PD or Eli Stone for example. We kick ass in the female demo and the 18-34 demo. We got better ratings from a better lead in, so that should tell ABC something......Also we matched the demo from our DWTS lead in. That would make us the only show on ABC to match the DWTS 18-49 demo in a post DWTS time slot. When you can match the demo of the networks highest rated show you do not have problems with ratings.

I don't think Callie is moving over. Sara is probably leaving GA and going back to Broadway. If she does come to LA it would only be for a visit.

As much as I loved Addie on Grey's but this way Private Practice will never be independent from Grey's... and like Amanda said the Grey's fans would watch PP already if they wanted to. The more I think about it, the more I think Mark is NOT moving to PrP. Now that I found out last night that Lost is getting our time slot on Wednesday's at 9, the crossover is going to be the way in which they establish us in the post GA time slot (I am putting my money on us moving to Thursday's at 10).

As for trying to establish ourselves as separate from GA, well all of that has been undone now by the talk of a crossover so they might as well stick us in the post GA time slot and let us leach off some of their demo. If there is one thing that we have proven it is that we can hold the demo of a proper lead in.

Due to certain events yesterday I was very distracted and despite being on KWA I completely missed ALL of this.

I don't even know what to think about this. They need to stop bringing Addison back to GA thats for sure. I didn't even particularly enjoy the episode she went back to before and I don't even understand what they will do with her this time. The closure thing is meant to have already happened.

I think a GA audience might help...at least it would be a similar kind of audience. So it has to be better than PD right now? I don't know. It's a lot of information.

HotCop is going to end badly. So as much as I love it know, I am aware that that is going to happen. I don't really want them to bring Mark or Callie across. I liked Maddison and I liked Addek but I can't really see them bringing all that up again. I don't know. I also like the side of Addie with new guys. And then Callie. I don't know. Calle is not my favourite character. I have never been a particularly huge fan and I just think it would be really odd to have a GA character on PrP.

Yup from December 11th they will show a re run every Thursday at 10 till Jan 8th when they will show an all new episode.

Way too early to know anything about season 3 at this point, he was most likely talking about the show being picked up for a full second season.

Actually there are 4 episodes left before the Xmas break, 210 is going to air on the 17th of December.

IMO, the crossover episodes won't be happening right away, they will save those for sweeps as was previously announced. Sides for 217 are out (but not 216, which leads me to believe 216 is a two parter episode, there is no summary for the 217 sides available yet on the net). Also, sweeps are in March next year instead of February, and when we have a new episode on the 8th expect a lot of week breaks and so on because they don't generally air that much new stuff before sweeps, so it won't be 5 consecutive weeks of new episodes unfortunately.

No one really knows when they cross over episodes will air, but I am sure we will hear more about it at a different date. However, from about episode 215 the sides started becoming more vague and less detailed so that could also point to them being the cross over episodes.

Also, now we have to factor in a potential SAG strike for maybe sometime next year, which would just mess everything up, well maybe, it all depends on how many more episodes they can shoot before any potential strike may happen, at this point if they rushed shooting through December they could practically finish out the 22 episode order.

Little bits, not any real scenes. We've been in the same room together and there's like bits when we're discussing a case. But he's the only character I'm thinking "how come you're not going out with him?" She's going out with this cop, and then I see Peter and I think "he might be okay for you" not knowing that they kind of have a little something going on already. Or maybe knowing. Maybe just trying to stir things up.

Sandra Oh spilled the beans on who may be coming to LA to visit Addie from GA. I must say I am intrigued. Also is a tad spoilery, so don't read if you do not want to know.

Doctors from Seattle Grace and Oceanside Wellness Center may soon be racking up the frequent flyer miles.

A multi-episode crossover between Grey’s Anatomy and its spin-off Private Practice is planned for February, and Grey’s star Sandra Oh is talking about who’s coming and who’s going.

“Crossover crazy!” Oh said of executive producer Shonda Rhimes’s plans to cross-pollinate the casts of her two medical melodramas.

Kate Walsh’s Dr. Addison Montgomery — who split from Seattle Grace to launch the spin-off and made one return trip last spring — is expected back in her old OR, and Oh revealed that Patrick Dempsey’s Derek Shepherd (a.k.a. McDreamy) will likely be trekking to his ex-wife’s romantically complicated Oceanside Wellness Center. “It has to do with Addison,” Oh said.

“I think the Chief is [going to visit], too,” she added, suggesting some unfinished business between Seattle Grace’s head of staff (James Pickens, Jr.) and Addison.

Oh has a suggestion for the writers in case they want to send her character to Ocean Wellness Center to hook up with a handsome doctor.

“Paul [Adelstein]’s character,” she says. “Cristina Yang would have scenes with Cooper. They’d just wrestle the whole time!”

IMO it will be way more interesting if Derek is the one going, because then for sure it is going to be something which is seriously affecting Addison so much that she calls on the ex for help. Sounds a lot better than a booty call or a catch up between old friends.
